Mekenzi G. Terry

Who He Is

Mission-Driven Leadership

Michael R. Terry is a public service leader and educator whose work centers on helping people make better decisions under pressure. After years in law enforcement, crisis response, and community outreach, he built Ready for Real Life Instruction and Education (MMMF) to teach practical life skills that transfer across school, family, work, and digital settings.

His graduate work at Columbia College also earned recognition through the 2025 Columbia College Alumni Association Scholars honors, reflecting both academic merit and meaningful contribution to the college community.

Who She Is

Rooted in Community and Excellence

Mekenzi Terry grew up in Tooele, Utah, just down the road from the man she would later marry. From the beginning, she was known as someone who did everything and did it well. She competed in dance and basketball, cheered on the sidelines, and earned three state championships with the Tooele High School softball team. She was crowned homecoming queen, not because she chased attention, but because people were naturally drawn to her.

She married Mike in 2008 and has built a life alongside him through the demands of law enforcement, raising five children, and investing deeply in every community she has been part of. In many ways, Mekenzi is the original teacher behind Ready for Real Life Instruction and Education (MMMF). Mike will be the first to say she taught him much of what he knows about how children learn, how people carry themselves, and how adults communicate with integrity.

Life Interests

Learning, Mentorship, and Service

His interests center on mentoring youth and adults, strengthening families, and translating real-world leadership experience into simple tools that people can use immediately. He is especially focused on communication, emotional regulation, and accountability as lifelong performance skills.

Leadership

Builder of Programs and People

Long before titles or formal programs, Mekenzi was simply a mother who walked her daughter through the doors of Ken's Gym and never really left. What began as support for her own child became a calling. She became the pioneer of what is now a large and thriving Tumblebees Preschool Gymnastics program, serving as its Coach and Director.

Family Life

Family-Centered Purpose

Family is at the center of Michael’s work. His writing and teaching consistently reflect home-centered values: presence, integrity, and daily follow-through. He speaks frequently about building trust and creating steady habits that strengthen family relationships over time.

Work and Service

Showing Up Across Every Setting

Before stepping into gymnastics leadership full-time, Mekenzi spent five years running her own clothing business, proving she knows how to build something from the ground up. She also served as a crossing guard and as a Special Education Aide in the Tooele County School District, adding to a long record of showing up for children in every stage and setting.

Career

Public Safety and Education

  • Leads high-accountability public service assignments and applies that experience to education, outreach, and curriculum design.
  • Oversees specialized K9 operations and readiness efforts, including Utah State Capitol support roles.
  • Leads statewide outreach, crisis response collaboration, and community-based engagement initiatives.
  • Applies graduate study in teaching and learning science to curriculum design and instructional practice.
  • Recognized as a 2025 Columbia College Alumni Association Scholar while completing graduate study in teaching.

Faith and Family

Centered on Gospel and Home

Mekenzi is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loves the Gospel above all else. Her life reflects steadiness, humor, warmth, and conviction. She is a mother of five and a coach to many more, and her influence reaches well beyond the walls of any one home, classroom, or gym.

Church Service

Faith in Daily Practice

Michael’s faith-based service is reflected in his Hear Him Daily writing and presentations. His message emphasizes discipleship in ordinary life: hearing the Savior in the middle of work, marriage, parenting, and service to others. This faith perspective shapes both his bio and the values behind his educational work.

Life in Full Color

Completely Herself

She shares life openly on Instagram as @mamamekenzi, where she is the same person she is everywhere else: funny, warm, and completely herself. She is known for her love of candy and rarely turns down a cold dirty Dr. Pepper. The Tumblebees are lucky to have her. So is everyone else.
